Special information meeting about spiritual gifts and caregiving

Thursday night, August 2: Deacon Glenn Ferguson and Pastor Phil will lead this meeting, beginning at 6:30pm. The goal is to discuss our progress in the Stephen Ministry development, answer questions about what it means to be a caregiver, answer questions about the Stephen Ministry and also talk about a new evening study Glenn will be leading on discovering your spiritual gifts. Learn about Christian Caregiving (Wednesday evening studies)

In a couple of weeks we will begin a small group study and discussion in a destination or activity of our Christian life.  Christian Caregiving, a Way of Life is a book with two purposes. One, to describe what makes Christian caregiving distinctive and to explain how that distinctive caregiving can become a way of life for individual Christians such as "What difference does my Christianity make in the caring and relating I do?"  The book deals with real-life issues in caring and relating, in a grass roots style.  Together we are honing our skills to be caregivers- truely knowing that God is the Curegiver.   Those of you interested in joining this small group begining on June 27th,  please email Glenn Ferguson at glennf73@gmail.com or Stacy Grogan oceanchurch@comcast.net so that we can obtain sufficient books available for advance reading.

As we continue to look at how we care for a lost and broken world,  the Christian Caregiving small group will be followed by a small group in discussing how we identify the spiritual gifts God has given us individually.  Beginning Wednesday, June 27th at 6:30pm, (skipping July 4th) resuming, Wednesday July 11th and will last 4-5 weeks and end before Labor Day.  In early August anyone interested from the congregation are invited to join us in discussing the organization and time line for Stephen Ministries.  Particularly on what the committment is to become a Stephens Minister, and what the Ministry is to our congregation.  Live strong- doing what Jesus would do. <(((((><

Ocean County public health survey

The Ocean County Health Department is doing a community health survey between June 1 and July 30. This is an important part of determining how services and resources are directed. Ocean Community Church has become more active in the past years in responding to local hunger and homelessness. Please take a moment to take the survey, which can be instrumental in bringing resources to our community. Pastor Phil will be participating in meetings June 13 and 15 to assist in completing a CDC assessment about local public health needs. Especially in light of our work with Family Promise and the newly formed Southern Ocean County Community Resource Center, these are important ways we are witnesses to the gospel as we do what Jesus did by caring for those who suffer.
