notes for sunday, january 9

so at this point we'll assume that the snow stops early and everything is fine for Sunday! As we enter the new year we're in some way repeating last year's experience with missing some of the attendance because of snow in january/february. last year this put us in a difficult financial position early in the year. if you are able to think about giving regularly in some way in spite of attendance issues, that would be a great help to us. we have alot of things we want to accomplish this year, and it is a great help to have regular, strong giving as we think about implementing plans, particularly in the area of youth staffing.

we continue our three part series on intentional spiritual growth with a message from I Timothy 4 about "exercising yourselves for godliness." I'll talk more about the idea of intentionality in spiritual growth, and begin to suggest 15 different "exercises" you might take up in the new year.

this is a regular sunday for children's ministry.

youth membership will be meeting in two weeks, January 23rd.

the bulletin is posted in the download section of our website.

I'll be having an informational/organizing meeting on Thursday, January 27th at 7pm to discuss forming a team to work with Kids Hope USA. Let me know if you are interested.

The new consistory meets this week on Wednesday evening (snow willing!). Pray for wisdom, unity and vision as they take up the challenges of being a missional congregation in 2011!

notes for sunday, january 2

Happy New Year to all! Here's what's happening this Sunday

We have installation of new officers as part of our new year service, welcoming those who have answered a call to serve as elders and deacons for the next three years. We will install and ordain them at both services.

We have the celebration of the Lord's Supper as part of both services. In connection with the installation of new officers, it becomes a time where we all recommit ourselves to offering our spiritual gifts to God in our shared mission here. It becomes a sign of unity in the Spirit.

Pastor will begin a series of three messages about intentional spiritual growth, leading us towards becoming transformed people who can carry the blessings of God into a lost and broken world. This week we think about the idea of intentional training and character/vitrue formation (Romans 12). Next week we start a look at 15 specific resolutions you can take up in the new year.

Children's ministry will offer a combined breakout following the installation and communion where they will work together on an advent craft, following our theme of traditions around the world.

Join us as we prayerfully enter a new year together, seeking to discern and do the will of God.

final update for sunday, december 26

we managed to hold both services before the snow got bad. 50 at first service and 14 at second. We thanked all those who worked so diligently in our ministries of mercy this past month; deacons, food and clothing team, famly promise team...many people were blessed, and we preached to good news with few words! We also gathered on Christmas Eve with 213 and in more words remembered the gospel and God's gift of His son, our savior. Thanks especially to all parents who brought children out again to participate in music ministry. The office will be closed Monday, everyone be safe!

update on Sunday Service

Well, we had our first service with about 25 people! We celebrated baptisms and thought together about what is reflected in the waters of baptism and what it points to in our daily faith. We have some people here for second service, but will probably be shorter! Be safe!
