Welcome! Choosing a church can be scary. I can remember visiting dozens of churches throughout my life when I was in college and even as part of a ministry team during high school. There are many churches in the world and in our area. What makes Ocean Community Church a church worth choosing? One of our core values here involves safety and balance. We believe that people will come to faith and be involved as they make those choices without being pressured. We try to be sensitive to the past experiences people have had in churches, and respect the choices you make about how involved you want to be. We are a thinking church that welcomes questions and conversation about difficult faith questions. We are a “Purpose Driven” friendly church where worship, fellowship, discipleship, service and mission are central. Most of our Sunday messages focus on how faith will be lived out in everyday life. We invite you to come and journey with us, as we journey together with Jesus Christ! Perhaps God has something wonderful for you here!

Ocean Community Church is a congregation of the Reformed Church in America, the oldest Christian denomination with a continuous ministry in North America. We are a missional church, focused on discipleship and the discovery of new life through a faith relationship with Jesus Christ. Our ministry focuses on core truths of the faith, and we seek to develop our Christian lives through small groups.

The best way to get to know us is to show up on a Sunday and experience our worship services. At 9am we have an informal family focused service, involving our praise band, contemporary music and a "come as you are" approach. Children & youth breakout is available during the early service for preschool - 6th grade. At 11am we share a traditional service with organ, hymns and a more formal style. Both services share the same message and nursery (up to age 5) is available during both.

MORE about OCC:

Our food pantry is part of the Food Bank of Monmouth & Ocean County providing supplemental and emergency food to those in need. The pantry is open every Wednesday from 11:00am until 1:00pm serving between 60-80 families each week. We also distribute over 100 holiday food baskets each Thanksgiving and Christmas and provide gifts to children up to age 12 through our deacon’s Angel Tree project.

About five times a year, for one week at a time, host congregations provide hospitality, overnight lodging, and meals (breakfast, a bag lunch and dinner). Hosting rotates among congregations, which provide lodging for up to five families (max 14 individuals) from 5pm to 7am the next morning. For more information on Family Promise, check out their website.

Many small groups exist within Ocean Community Church, allowing Christian growth and social opportunities to those who attend. Spiritual Growth & Bible Study groups meet in the evenings at member’s homes as well as through the week here at the church.

Here at OCC we want to provide a place for kids to experience growth and grace. Our goal is for kids to grow in their knowledge of God and His love for them, grow in their understanding of His purpose which includes a special plan for each of them, and grow in character, which will better equip them to handle the challenges they face each day. Kids will have the opportunity to experience grace and will be encouraged to extend God’s grace to others. Our curriculum provides a creative approach for teaching the Bible. Some of the teaching methods include: drama, interactive discovery, storytelling, interviews, games and songs. Our children’s ministry is held during our first service beginning at 9:00am in the sanctuary with worship and a children’s message, followed by a breakout into age-appropriate discussion groups. Many "Family Days" are planned through out the year, such as movie days, candy making, Fall FunFest and more.

VBS is another part of our children’s ministry and outreach where we host between 60-80 local children from ages 4 (and potty trained) up to entering 6th grade for one week in July or August. Children join us each evening from 6:00-8:30pm where their learning is extended through stations, including, music, discovery, storytelling and more.

Youth in grades 4-7th meet each week on Tuesday afternoons from 4:00-5:30pm for fellowship, games, spiritual growth and fun. Our 7-9th grade youth meet on Friday nights for game night and fellowship. Many activities are planned throughout the year including movie nights, weekend retreats, bbq’s, fire pit s’mores roasting and lock-ins where youth stay the night here at the church and participate in many fun planned events.

We are a participating congregation of IHSS with members serving as volunteers as well as board members. This program unites the spirit of many faith congregations. Volunteers from participating congregations are trained men, women, young adults and youth who give non-medical support, share their personal gifts and provide services that are matched to a neighbor's need.
